NBC 7 News

Going live Thursday Evening and Friday morning, NBC’s interview about Crossroads featured 3 different segments. Produced by Todd Strain, he asked myself and Jayna Lee questions about the sites history, current offerings, and its ambitions for the future. I got to explain how the site came about, starting as what was a school project, but ultimately growing way past that. I then got to outline how we aim to simplify the process of finding homeless resources in San Diego; 1 by creating an easy to use site that can load fast and quickly get clients connected with the services they need, and 2 by including features like a ‘search by age’ funnel to help clients only see the services that are applicable to them.

Todd Strains publication of the video was incredible, perfectly highlighting the sites mission to increase accessibility to homeless resources, while also mentioning just how many services are offered, from free dental care all the way to safe parking at night. Social Impact Spotlight Series

The Social Impact Spotlight Series is a new podcast run by the nonprofit Cause San Diego with the intention to highlight up and coming service projects and small businesses. Hosted by Staci Reidinger, our quick interview covered roughly the same topics; how the site came to be, whats on it, how we make this accessible through features like our qr codes, and lastly the future ambitions for the site. Staci was great with covering the sites ambitions, and made sure to ask other organizations to reach out to be featured on it as well.

The future

Exposure is the best thing that can possible happen to Crossroads, as we encourage other organizations and non profits in San Diego that offer a service that could benefit the homeless to reach out an be added to the site. We see Crossroads to now be distributed through local organizations, word of mouth, and media coverage with the intention to get more sites on Crossroads, and to give more people access. To conclude, if you offer a service you feel could help the homeless community, please reach out to get added and help out San Diego’s most vulnerable demographic.
