A walk in the park

CrossroadsSD has recently ran a table in the 7th annual Homeaid Walk to End Homelessness. The walk itself was incredible, and so many organizations came out to support Homeaids mission to end homelessness. Lets breakdown what the walk entailed, and what event like these mean for the future of Crossroads!

There I am hosting the CrossroadsSD table at the event.

What is homeaid, and what is their walk for?

Homeaid is a local San Diego organization with a mission to “help people at risk or experiencing homelessness build new lives through construction, community engagement, and education.” They help local homeless organizations with construction projects, help them with community engagement projects, and also educate people through social media. This is the same organization that interviewed me last year for their Cause San Diego Podcast to help CrossroadsSD gain traction.

Their walk is meant to be both a fundraiser and a way to raise awareness. Participants payed for tickets, and then walked San Diego Mission Bay with signs and shirts to raise awareness for the fight against homelessness. At the end, participants will meet in an area full of snacks and service providers. This is where Crossroads was, with its own table (pictured above), in which we would talk to anyone who passed to share our site and what we have been doing.

What does this mean for the future of CrossroadsSD?

During the walk, Crossroads spoke not only with participants, but also with the other service providers there. We knew a lot of people, but also met some new ones, including WeSeeYou, so that we could add their resources to the site in the future. This continues the trend of Crossroads expansion, with us meeting more organizations and people to grow the site to become even bigger than it is today!
